Born in a small coal mining community in Western Pennsylvania, Kevin Hagerich joined the military upon graduating from high school at age 17.
He holds an Associate and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in Business and Management. He also holds a Masters of Public Administration from Strayer University.
During his twenty-five year military career, he rose through the ranks making the grade of Staff Sergeant before being awarded a Direct Military Commission in the Infantry Branch. He retired at the rank of Major. He held assignments at the unit, battalion, group, army and theater level, as well as a tour of duty in the Military District of Washington. He served in Army assignments and both Joint (all services) and Coalition (other country services) assignments. His last military assignment was that of Theater Operations Officer for Southwest Asia. He deployed numerous times, and some of his awards include four (4) Meritorious Service Medals and eight (8) Army Commendation Medals.
Since retiring from the military, he has served as the Assistant Director of Public Works in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and the Director of Public Works in Cumberland, Maryland. He accepted the position of Public Works Director for Iberia Parish in January, 2008.
